Released 10 years ago, the song has only become more relevant. Released as Facebook was beginning to take off (at least in Canada), I had no idea how accurate it would become. Things like this make me question (albeit for little more than a blink) what I do for a living.
This is true in over 95% of cases. I find it especially interesting (mostly because I almost fell deep into this hole myself starting Denote Communications) that new businesses are often fixated on what are actual trivial things such as logos, business cards, names, etc. instead of what actually matters, sales. We all saw Heineken burst on the scene earlier in the year with being one of the first brands to utilize those cool video ads in the bottom-right corner of your screen on Facebook. Now it looks like they’re taking their partnership with Facebook one step further with the Heineken Social Tree. The video gives a cool overview on the project, but to see the real power, check it out yourself. I’m not sure if you see the possibilities for similar offshoots to this, but if you don’t, I’m not telling you. The ideas are mine 😉
Awesome ad for Norte Beer to protect us from what we all fear most, evidence of what happened last night. The thing I actually love most about this is the ability to expand the campaign past this ad and actually develop a product to do this. These already exist for license plates to stop toll cameras from snapping pics. Could we not develop like a beer cozy or something made of tin foil?
So you’ve just started your business. You’ve got your savings, loan, government handouts, etc., and a dream to make money. I’m surprised at the amount of people who immediately think their top priority is a social media plan.
