In 2 days time. I will be boarding a plane to go on an international trade mission with Junior Team Canada. The opportunity in itself is amazing as I will be traveling with a contingent of nearly 30 Canadian youth to Indonesia and Malaysia in order to help foster international trade between Canada and these nations. More specifically, I will be representing Nova Scotia and Canadian companies and organizations while I am there. While in Indonesia and Malaysia, I will have the opportunity to meet with business, community, and political leaders.
Tomorrow will be all vaccinations, stocking up on meds, packing, and tying up loose ends for Denote. I will also try and get in touch with my sponsors to learn more about what I can provide with them while over there and maybe speak to a few more organizations about the JTC program.
I’d also like to extend a large thank you to my sponsors for enthusiastically supporting such an amazing program and investing in Canadian youth’s ability to learn about international trade. Without their sponsorship, I would be unable to participate in this wonderful program and gain invaluable international trade experience. What’s more the entire sponsorship process was an experience in itself. I’ll be sure to get into that as well when I have a dull day and some spare time :). Without further ado, I’d like to thank the following wonderful sponsors in no particular order:
- Dr. Keith Taylor at Dalhousie University
- Geoff Wilson at the Toronto Port Authority
- Nova Scotia Business Institute
- Colin MacDonald at Clearwater Seafoods
- Dr. Colin Dodds at Saint Mary’s University
After having had extensive discussions with each of my sponsors (as well as people who were able to help put me in touch with these sponsors), I’ve become so enthusiastic about growing my community into one that lives up to its potential. But that….is another story!
